This relaxing float trip is perfect for families with young children or anyone looking for a mellow river experience with great scenery and loads of fresh air and sunshine.
Float trips are perfect for young kids, older adults, or anyone ready to enjoy a scenic ride down a mellow section of river. The trip takes about two hours on the water, during which beautiful mountain scenery and fresh air will help invigorate and rejuvenate the spirit.
This four-mile adventure can be done in either a guided raft, or for the more adventurous, in an inflatable kayak. For our Morning Float Trip, we use a short section of the Yough above the put-in and our Afternoon Float Trip leaves right from our base in Friendsville and goes down to the beautiful Yough Lake.
Both trips follow fast moving water interspersed with some small, easy rapids. Be prepared to relax and enjoy Mother Nature at her finest. This is a great way to enjoy some quality time with family and friends in the great outdoors.

Precision Rafting was founded by Roger Zbel and Phil Coleman in 1981 as a small company in Western Maryland to escape the already crowded rivers of West Virginia. At this point there were no self-bailing rafts and everyone in the business thought that rafting on the Upper Youghiogheny (Yough, for short) just couldn't be done. After several years of rafting the Upper Yough successfully more companies thought that it could be done and the crowds followed.
Today, Precision Rafting is the largest whitewater outfitter on the Upper Yough and provides the finest Whitewater Rafting near Deep Creek lake Maryland. From April through October we run exciting white water rafting trips down the Upper Youghiogheny (pronounced: "Yock"—rhymes with "rock") Cheat, Big Sandy, North Branch of the Potomac, and Savage rivers.
