Take a guided climb of Mt. Shasta (14,162 ft.) via the Standard Avalanche Gulch Route!

Join us for a two-day guided summit climb up Mt. Shasta’s standard route, Avalanche Gulch. This trip is for anyone who has a desire to ascend Mt. Shasta safely, as well earn the basic skills necessary to explore the world of alpine mountaineering. Course includes; basic instructional clinic on ice axe self-arrest & crampon use, group safety equipment, tents, stoves, helmets, ice ax, dinners, breakfasts, permits and permit fees. No previous mountaineering experience necessary! Come join us for an exciting adventure on Mt. Shasta.

Includes:

  • Professional instruction/guides
  • Breakfast(s), dinner(s) and hot drinks
  • Group climbing equipment including: ice axes, crampons, helmets, harnesses
  • Group camping equipment including: tents and stoves, and permits, permit fees

 

Excludes:

  • Transportation to the meeting location in Mt. Shasta, California
  • Personal items such as: sleeping bag, pack, proper footwear, personal clothing, snack and lunches
  • Snowshoes (available for rent)

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1

After meeting at 8:00 am we will hike to our high camp just below Helen Lake. The afternoon will be spent acclimatizing and receiving instruction in ice axe and crampon use. After a hearty dinner, we will retire early in preparation for an alpine start (up by 2-3:00 am).

Day 2

We'll make an alpine start (up by 2-3:00 am) for the attempt of Mt. Shasta’s summit. Then we'll be back to high camp by 3:00 pm to pack and return to Bunny Flat Trailhead by 5:30 pm. * Remember this is the best-case scenario!
